21st Century Learning Skills
“The Trainer’s Challenge
in Helping Learners Thrive in an Evolving Learning Environment”
The New Mexico Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development
is collaborating with NM ISPI and NM ICF to host a 1-day Professional
Development Conference October 1, 2004 at the Hyatt
Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa.
Key Note: Our
luncheon speaker is Ms. Rita Bailey, Former Director of Southwest
Airlines University for People. While
with Southwest Rita directed a 36-member team focused on Leadership,
Career Development, and Professional/Personal programs for over 32,000
Employees. Rita now serves as an ASTD National Board Member and
CEO for QVF Partners, Ltd. She works with organizations and individuals
who are serious about creating People focused cultures and relationships. If
you ask Rita what type of business she’s in, Rita’s answer
is, The People Business.
Concurrent Sessions: There
will be 4-6 concurrent sessions offered with such topics as:
- How are necessary learner competencies evolving?
- Is distance learning a new learner skill set?
- What can technical trainers teach soft-skill trainers about 21st
century learners and vice versa?
- How can we build self-directed learning
and collaborative learning components into “traditional” training
environments and expectations?
- How can we help create organizational capacity through support
of autonomous-learning skills?
- Should we enhance learner involvement in ongoing formative evaluation?
- Does a need for new learner skills effect the ROI calculation for
training?
- Where is “blended learning” going
in the 21st century?
- Do learning and performance tie together
in new ways in a new training
environment?
- What is next with generational learning-style issues?
Leisure / Adventure Time: We have built enough
time into the conference schedule for you to enjoy the luxurious and
